I'm aware of the meaning, and that is actually why I like it, seems powerful to me. It also isn't very common, I can only think of the actress.

It is actually somewhat common in the horse world. When I was in Pony Club, we knew two other girls who each had a horse named Tempest. It's a great name for a horse or maybe a cat.

Honestly, if I met a kid with this name I would assume the parent wasn't very educated and didn't know what it meant. Other names this parent might choose: Dirk, Randy, Tiara, Misty.

Knowing what you know about DCUM and name threads in particular, why did you post?

Name her what you want and teach her not to care what others think - by not asking what others think.

Just to note, the actress who played Vanessa Huxtable was Tempestt with two T's.

I still don't love it, but it dilutes the associations with terrible storms a little bit.

I worked with a woman named Stormy. Her parents had named her after some song from the 70s. She was fine, but every time I had to email her or invite her to a meeting I thought to myself, what a God-awful name.

What is the nickname? Temp? Pest? Tempy?

I’m being serious, often with kids you or others will want to call them by a cute version of their name and I don’t see one here.

The other thing is the lack of middle name. You need one so you can yell “Tempest JANE!!! Get down here this instant!!!”

Trying too hard.
Child can get away with it if attractive (as most attractive people can get away with almost anything).
If unattractive, the name will not endear.
