I'm assuming you can't also tell the difference between a $500 sofa from Walmart and a $2000 sofa from Ethan Allen.
I'm surprised you couldn't tell the difference between a Honda Civic and a BMW 540.
Here are the differences:
The BMW has a more powerful engine. This translates into a more pleasant ride. It's fun to drive.
The BMW has more comfortable a luxurious seats.
The BMW interior has better material and finishes. It is luxurious and has a better build quality.
The BMW has heated seats, heated steering wheel, cool seats etc...
The BMW has dual zone climate control.
The BMW has a better sound system.
The BMW has automatic self parking
The BMW has a semi autonomous driving feature (traffic jam feature).
The BMW has a better infotainment system and more tech features.
etc..
etc..
I could keep going.
Ok, ok, but we all know what the BMW has that you really prize: "Look at me, look at me!"

Mazda—broke a lot
Subaru—great
Honda—reliable but felt like driving a truck
BMW—a dream. Nice tight steering. Smooth acceleration. So fun.
Mazda—again, it broke a lot. But was zippy to drive
Hyundai—only living here a few years so went super budget. Kinda jerky and not smooth but not bad.
When we retire—it’s BMW time.

Do luxury cars truly have a quieter ride? This is something I have been hoping for and can't find. I have a 2018 top of the line Odyssey and everything still feel SO LOUD- the road noise and the noise from the vents, etc.
I am getting read to buy a new car, and wanted a crossover/SUV. Was looking at Toyota, but if a luxury finally gets me quiet, I may do it...
Yes. Pretty much everyone who gets into my car (Audi A8) comments on how quiet it is-- no road noise at all. Very smooth ride, even the crappy streets around here are not uncomfortable. Plus heated steering wheel. (minor I know, but love it)

My odyssey has all of that!
But to op’s point- service is better, ride smoother and the inside is more luxurious

Time to replace your tires. And I bet my minivan has more interior space than your beamer.
Anonymous wrote:I wouldn’t consider the Lexus 350 luxury at all, so the answer there is nothing. I think as cars overall are becoming much better equipped, the differnce isn’t as stark. Luxury cars will have nicer rims, bigger tires, huge displays, all of teh safety features that were high end back in 2009 but are pretty much standard now, bigger engines, more leather, better stereo systems, heavier frames for safety, soft close doors, stuff that you probably wouldn’t miss if you aren’t used to it. Now, a lot of that stuff is normal on more medium/upper end cars. It’s liek askign what’s the difference between a ryan home and a custom built home. It’s the stuff you don’t think about, flooring, tiles, trim, between windows and systems, etc.
