Sure, but I'm pretty sure most people in the DC area can't escape there regularly on the weekends, so it's apples to oranges.

It is harder to find reasonably priced accommodations in Rehoboth because so many of the older houses have been knocked down and replaced with McMansions that charge $1k a night (or more) in high season.


Give it another 10-20 years and these prices will look like a bargain. Unfortunately, it’s the best option for families coming from DC that can’t stomach a 7 hour car ride or fly with unvaccinated young kids.


The larger trend is housing being bought and being used by the owner, rather than remaining in the rental market.

Up and down the east coast/beach areas, this is what is happening.

It's not due to immigration policy, it's due to corona restrictions on people entering the US.


So now our teens are all employed and decently paid. Its a shame what happened to this country.

Yeah, that was nearly 75 years ago. Pre- bridge, many Washingtonians made do with the smaller beaches along the bay in Southern MD.

I don't they were talking about weddings. But different strokes. We like Rehoboth because it's close by for a quick get away. No hassle. Our family has been going there for 40 years and it's become our tradition. Every year, we kick off the end of school year with a weekend trip to the Rehoboth. Nothing glamerous but I have so many good memories with my cousins, driving through miles and miles of cornfields and reaching the beach, catching crabs at dusk, flying kites.

Same. My family has a house in North Shores (recently passed down to the next generation) and we go all the time. Rehoboth (and North Shores) has changed a lot since I was a kid, but nothing in life stays the same, so...

This. I manage the rental of our Rehoboth house, and most of our guests have been coming to RB since they were kids. We host many multi-generational families.
