One catastrophic failure after another, an ever increasing wealth gap, half the population refuses to atone for or even acknowledge the country’s collective sins, sordid history, and disgusting jingoistic tendencies. The politicians won’t fix it because they’re beholden to the moneyed class. My plan is to continue to scramble to get mine and then retire early somewhere else. You all can stay on the sinking ship.
Haha. If and when America goes down, it's not going down quietly. We're gonna take everyone else down with us. Good luck with whatever shit hole you flee to.
Thanks for helping me prove my point. Enjoy your 2A, worshipping the flag, and the rich continuing to screw you. ‘Murica!!
You've got me pegged all wrong. I hate Trump and the gun humpers who voted for him. But pissing on America and then running away isn't going to save you. The only way out is to take a realistic look at our strengths and our weaknesses, building on the former, and trying to reduce the latter.

Could not agree more.

Sorry but again enjoy the ride to the bottom. America’s a lost cause from the beginning - built on lies destruction and slavery. The reactionary half (possibly more if you count the middle) isn’t going to allow the needed change. I admire your optimism but you’re going to be sorely disappointed.

White boomer men didn't have to complete with minorities, immigrants, overseas labor, etc. Their education and housing was heavily subsidized or protected by the government. They have used their accumulated wealth as the middle and upper middle class to completely dominate the job market, economy, and politics. Now because of demographic changes they aren't interested in passing on those benefits to the rest of society. It doesn't benefit them.
Generalize much?! You're categorizing an entire group of people in a very negative way. Bet you wouldn't like that kind of generalization to be reversed.
Hey, I've got a time machine that will take you back to 1950. There's one catch. You'll be black when you get there. Want a ride?
Doesn't the race deflection get old? The OP is correct, the younger generation will have it harder. Homes will cost more, gas, food and it won't be as easy in many ways. It's obvious.

All of this is completely true. I have become increasingly disillusioned with America since living in a European country years ago. Admittedly, it was a wealthy European country, but for their taxes everyone received:
-health care
-18 months of parental leave between the two parents
-preschool from age 3
-low cost university
-6 weeks of paid vacation if you were employed
-a living wage
-robust public transportation
It was incredibly eye-opening and yet most Americans have been cowed by fear of something they don't understand and don't seem to want to.
+1000. I grew up in Germany and they had much of that as well and contrary to GOP claims it is not "too expensive" and won't bankrupt anyone or turn the rich into paupers. We CAN and SHOULD do these things, and we DO NOT need to and SHOULD NOT reinvent the wheel on those, we should just study and learn from other countries to understand how they have been able to implement those, pick a best-of-breed solution and GET IT DONE.
