I did date a 39 yo at 26 (and later married him) and I would not have touched him with a 10 foot pole if he were divorced, let alone divorced with kids! That is a HARD dealbreaker.

Disaggregate your data by education and location, you will likely not find the bulk of successful DC late twenty-somethings give him the time of day. He might be appealing to a late twenty something with few other prospects.

OP sounds like a needy man. Everything about you screams “needs validation and acceptance”. As a guy who has always had a knack for women (prior to marrying my wife of course), my advice to you is to please work on this OP — it’s often highly subconscious but most women that are worth dating can sniff out a needy man relatively quickly.
