Not sure what you follow but Coppermine 28 is arguably the best team in the country at the 28 level. They blew threw the top LI YJ team, Heros Green, MDU and have beaten M&D several times by a lot. The 27 team is strong as well. You may want to see some updated results.

Stars/Capital hasn't beaten Pride recently let alone trying to beat Heros, M&D etc. Again, not sure what you are watching, but Stars hasn't beaten anyone worthwhile in a long time. In NGLL they had 1 playoff team from the 27 B bracket and that was it. The Capital/Stars name is not what it used to be. Pride is slightly better but still not beating the top teams. NGLL they didn't have any teams in the championship games and at the HS level they are still growing.

Coppermine 28s are the best at that age group. Kind of interesting seeing as you are right, the rest of the years are not that strong. I've seen Pride be competitive with the B'more clubs, but Stars, not so much (at least in MS and younger). Sure Capital still competes, but I've yet to see Stars teams give any of the top clubs any competition.

Reality is that the top teams will dictate the tryout schedule

A few years ago, M&D posted something to the effect that travel teams were competitive and they actually encouraged girls to try out at other Clubs. I think they held try outs in late August during that time, but currently hold them in mid July like most Clubs. I like the July dates because as a PP noted, girls are at the top of their game. I also think players should enjoy the summer tournaments without worrying about getting an offer or whether they made the A or B team.

Based on recent results, that seems to be the case. Although I still don't see NL or Pride beating M&D, Hero's Green, Coppermine or MDU, even with their recent upswing.

Coppermine? They lose nearly every game at most levels.

Pride always tries to force players to committ and pay before other clubs offer spots. It’s a pattern with them that hasn’t changed even as their HS program receives national top 10 rankings. Owner needs to knock it off and let results speak for program.

First off I didn't say July, I said after tryouts. So....MC Elite and Stars already had tryouts. My DD had a tournament this weekend and now has 3 tournaments left BEFORE her team has tryouts. So that equals 4. And I said 3 or 4... But nice try being snarky.

Reality is that the top teams will dictate the tryout schedule and other teams will move from there. Some teams try to lock up girls early, but this isn't a sustainable strategy.

So you want to tell a girl who has 3 or 4 tournaments still to play that she won't be on the team again next year? Yeah, great plan you have there.

The idea from the PP isn't a bad idea in theory as long as the teams are run well, organized and most important, communication is key. The plan and how tryouts and next year's teams should be detailed in communication so girls know where they stand.

As far as the tournament comment, I believe the clubs are waiting until all of the tournaments are finished to communicate the placement on teams for the new year/season.

It is a valid argument that MC had tryouts before they were even done with tournaments for the season. I like the idea of tryouts as soon as the season is over. Season ends, tryouts and then enjoy your Summer knowing where you stand. Come back in Fall.
