Yep, that’s it. Not playing these six lacrosse games that they didn’t really even sign up for is going to shape their whole worldview for the rest of their lives. Family, church, school - none of those matter. Only the crucible of HoCo lacrosse can shape our youth.

If 5th grade lacrosse is this important to you, your world seems really small and sad.

No one is blaming any children. The irritation is directed at the selfish decision of the Cavs organization to upset an entire division rather than teaching their kids to go out and compete. Great job, you've taught them to quit when things get tough.

club director and coaches that make these decisions (not the (kids) whether to play hoco or cheat by bringing in unrostered, above grade level players. feel free to take it up with them angry bethesda mom/troll

BLC Blue had the guts to go play six uncompetitive games.

In the many years of HoCo, there have doubtless been scores of teams that won 0 or 1 games in the season.

You saying you couldn’t be bothered makes you look like shit tbh. Every time you talk, it makes you look worse.

Frankly I think HoCo should ban you from future participation at any level.

If you’re looking for character flaws in *11 year-olds* who are already playing lacrosse 5 or 6 days a week and didn’t want to get up at 7am on Sundays to go play uncompetitive games that are meaningless in the overall scope of their lives, you need to take a step back and find some more important things to care about.

Actually we quit BEFORE the season started, but HOCO did not remove us from the schedule, until after the season started. Our coach would never bail out once a season starts. HOCO had lots of time to make schedule adjustments and chose not to.

You are correct we did not want to play elite, we are not ready for that level. We were forced up and told too bad. BLC was also forced up and look at how that ended for them. They lost every single game by big margins. Nothing is gained by getting your asses handed to you each week. That's just miserable.

They could not just take our goalie. That would have been wrong as well. Our goalie was not a registered player, since we were not participating in HOCO this year.

Lacrosse should be treated like soccer with player cards checked before each game.


The original Elite Division included Cavs, BLC, HLC, and True Kelly Post. That set up a two tiered division where the top and bottom half would have been generally competitive. I'm glad the Cavs parent admitted they "quit" but I suspect they have no idea how much it screwed up all the other teams, particularly BLC (who had the guts to stay in the division and compete).

Every Elite division had one or two teams that were 0-7 or 1-6. It's always that way. My son's first year of Cavs, they went 1-6. And that wasn't even the Elite division (d'oh!).

But I guess if you're too proud to take your lumps...

I have somehow never seen this recommendation before with lacrosse, and absolutely agree.

Aren't most clubs and rec programs requiring players to have a USAL membership now anyways? Would that make a "player card" easier to have?

OMG, so true. This team should be so embarrassed, especially the parent who posted "not okay." If he/she is still on the forum, go ahead and explain why it's not ok for an opposing parent to take a picture to prove that your team cheated?

As the parent of a kid in this division (not on one of the two teams most directly involved) I’ll say this was obviously posted by a Cavs parent (coach?), and i can appreciate the attempt at deflection. The feigned concern, the desperate attempt to somehow claim the moral high ground... not bad.

It’s not at all convincing, of course. YOU PLAYED A HS KID IN A 6TH GRADE LEAGUE. But I guess it was worth a shot.
