That is not what the person said! The red and white teams are the top two Alexandria teams.
PP said that nobody showed up at Alexandria tryouts other than kids from Alexandria lower teams, which I find hard to believe.

Anonymous wrote:I don't think he/she is badmouthing the clubs and I really don't understand why that would be your first thought... what they were saying is there was a ton of kids there. SYC ran their MLS Next tryouts and their Academy tryouts at the same time on the same fields with all the same kids. From everything I've heard there were easily over 200 kids out there and this isn't the first time I have heard the term "S-show" used to describe the scene.
Thanks for posting and congrats to your boy.

In reality, they are the same.

Re: MLS Next digging into the Arlington talent pool I will say this. 1. The one thing Arlington has no shortage of at this age group is really good talent. 2. I would be cautious about jumping from a club with a long-standing tradition of churning out really good players to a brand new hyper-competitive league. SYC’s MLS Next tryouts were an unfettered S-show and my understanding is Alexandria didn’t draw a whole lot of talent outside their red and white teams. And the one thing I can assure you is that SYC and Alexandria didn’t get the selections right this first go. So kids are getting it in their mind that they want to leave. Let them play and nurture a love of the game. There is so much pressure to find something better and from what I’ve seen, Arlington is a great program with really great coaches. Not without faults of course, but the more you look around the more you realize every club has issues.
Congratulations. How do you know SYC and Alexandria didn't get their selections right this first go?

An '04 player making his pro debut for Loudoun United and committed to the University of Virginia, yes, Arlington should be proud!
Eight long balls in 45 minutes in his debut game tells you a lot about the style of play. And the long balls had 62.5 percent accuracy so it is not like he was pinging the balls accurately.
Hard to know how accurate he was without seeing the game don't you think?
The tweet from Arlington about his debut, provided the stats, including the number of long balls attempted and long balls completed.
Sorry, the tweet was from DMV soccer, I misidentified it, but the stats are there.
I know - but my point was that completion percentage doesn't really give you the full picture without the context of the game. The incompletions may have been accurate passes into tiny spaces where the payoff could have been a goal. Or they may have been hurried clearances where completion was less important than the clearance. Or they may just have been inaccurate passes.
Right. I am sure he made no mistakes and never has. Good grief relax.
