My nephew got into penn state last year. He barely scraped through high school with mediocre grades and test scores. His final GPA was just over 3.0 and ACT was 26.

They have huge sports scene, enough parties, and lots of fun traditions. At 14K undergrads it's big enough but not huge.
Excellent for hyper-religious weirdos.
And pearl clutcher #1 has already shown up. DCUM never fails to disappoint.
Read their website. Jesus everywhere. Weird.
Yeah, really weird that a Christian school would include Jesus. In other shocking news, there' a Catholic chapel at Georgetown Univ and they require 2 theology courses as part of their core curriculum. How weird is that.

My kid scored 1380, but didn't submit it when doing applications as he felt it didn't reflect his capabilities (did better on pre-SAT). Still got into Wisconsin. But this past year has been a crazy admission season. Who knows?
I'm not sure Wisconsin as #1 US Party school is really the best fit for him, but figure it is a big school and he is likely to find his people. He has requested a dorm that are NOT considered a loud party dorm. Perhaps your kid will do the same. Fingers crossed, but also knowing transferring out is always an option!
They have come down in the rankings. When I was there, they had an asterisk that they didn't rank professionals.
Just because it is a party school doesn't mean EVERYONE parties all of the time. There are a lot of very serious students there and they all work hard. The town and the college spirit because of the sports are second to none.
Anonymous wrote:OP your title is pretty awful. 1300's not great either.
Pick some safeties.

Wisconsin is the best academically of the schools listed, but 1300 may still be tough to gain admission.
My 33 ACT big 3 kid was WL at Wisconsin this year.
Omg, you are s**ting me? Hope your kid got into better school. Wow. From Big 3, I would have thought a 28 would get you into Wisconsin. Crazy.
