Yup. It's painful for the kids, especially as some have their offers and others are still waiting as the trickle down effect from ECNL is still ongoing. DC's team is rife with rumors of kids coming down from higher teams, bumping down long-time teammates and/or driving them to leave the club.
I'm not sure there is a viable solution, but it sucks for the kids.
Especially since They sent out an email to all families saying in order to reduce stress this year all kids were getting a spot. This has been anything but stressful for the kids.
I assume this should be "stress free"?
Look, I agree that there needs to be some level of stress so kids push themselves and don't have a spot just handed to them. However, McLean "stressed" several times that because of Covid they wanted to make tryouts as stress free for its current families as possible. Their words, not mine. Now it appears they are seeing the writing on the wall with deflections and are changing their tune. Current players who remained loyal are screwed if they didn't try out elsewhere or declined spots. We won't make this same mistake twice.
