You should be approached at 25 to join the Met Club, 30 for CCC and then Pine Valley and a great vacation house club (Sankaty, Ocean Forest, Seminole) thereafter. If you have really nailed it, the Links and ANGC might follow as well.

It’s being on good terms with friends and neighbors who invite you to their club and realize you might be a good fit. So they suggest that they’d sponsor you in passing conversation. That’s my experience at least. People don’t always have ulterior motives. Sometimes they are waiting for the right time in their life to explore these things (eg, established enough in their careers, kids old enough, etc). But whatever, it’s clearly absurd for the PP to inquire anonymously about this. To learn about the club and process without having to look stupid for doing so. I thought that’s what posts like this were for.
Well if you hate the judgment like that on here, then you wont do well at these country clubs. it's ALL about judging and identifying the social climbers and steering clear of the social leech types. So people are going to notice. If you're okay with that, join. If you cant stand people raising an eyebrow- well, you're not going to suddenly find acceptance and "no judgement" at a country club of all places.
no it's not. Do you belong to one of them?
Most people, particularly at Kenwood, are the exact opposite. Sure you will have bad eggs everywhere, but good lord don't just spew crap that isn't true.
Why do people on this site frown at people who want to play golf!? There are no good public courses remotely convenient to the DC area. The fact that I joined a club wasn't to feel superior, it was to play golf when I want, at a nice course, will little delay or congestion.
We’re members of Kenwood because
1) it’s very close to our house
2) it has the sports facilities that we use, particularly a very nice, usually uncrowded indoor pool
3) our kids love the swim team
4) it’s a chill place to hang out -particularly at the outdoor bar and outdoor dining area in the summer
5) it was relatively simple to join
We’re older and well established in Washington. Lots of friends and social connections, long before we ever thought of joining Kenwood. We have zero interest in that aspect of country club membership. We’re rich. We aren’t interested in impressing anyone. Most of our friends and families don’t even know that we belong to a country club.

It is a great family club, not as pretentious as other clubs. Tennis and golf are big draws, and tge swim program is perennially very strong and a lot of fun. Food ranges from ok to actually quite good. The fitness center and indoor pool are fantastic. The new bar is great. The club is privately owned, which is why upgrades can be slow to happen - but they do seem to eventually happen. We belong to KCC and another local club (though that is ending), and the kids prefer to do things at KCC.
BS they are begging.
And facilities are very old, basically a dump. Golf is fine.
OP it's fine if you like Lots of MAGA. Lots of anti semitism.
Another KCC member here. It’s not for you. If you want upgraded everything join Bethesda. It’s a low key club, food is fine, clubhouse is old and meh but also… is fine. We love swim team, tennis, easy to golf quickly (close to our house), indoor pool… it’s family oriented and great for what it is.

Not really. There’s a waiting list.

how is this helpful? I guess I'll just hit a pitching wedge around the YMCA soccer field

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What percentage of the membership is not white?
Also, what is the history of Kenwood w/re to anti-Semitism and racism?
There are a handful of black and Asian members. And enough Jewish members to merit an annual Hanukkah party. This wouldn’t have been the case 50 years ago, but times have changed
Hard to believe this is OP. If not, stop trolling.
