They also know how to navigate all the airline paperwork. My in laws were getting their dog from Canada and the flight nanny navigated customs etc

Get a local dog unless you are an experienced breeder or you have enough money to hire someone to bring the dog. Unless your DH is extremely experienced with dogs (not just a dog lover or owner) having him and a kid bringing back the dog is a disaster waiting to happen.

My in laws breed and show and compete with at the top levels a specific breed of dog. One if their puppies came from western Canada (a “northern” breed) and they paid someone experienced to bring the dog to Dulles. They had a stop in between where the person took the dog out.

JetBlue will let you for $125 per flight. Must be arranged in advance.

it's a mutt so there is no need to worry about AKC standards


That doesn’t mean the breeder doesn’t care about the health of her dogs—unlike, for example, anyone who continues to breed dogs that routinely require surgery to breathe or can only deliver by C section.

What's the purpose of doing this vs. just getting a Flight Nanny? The puppy is going to have a long day with a stranger either way. The Flight Nanny at least does this as a profession and probably has a much better idea of how to navigate both multiple flights, the airport terminals, and flying with young pups than your average first time bumbling owner does.

OP you are being scammed. No reputable breeder sends an 8 week puppy across country. They are sending too you because of the heat.
I know they're not considered pets, but the Post Office delivers by Express, chickens which can be fully grown or little chicks. I'm positive that if there was no outcry and the Post Office would do it, breeders would be only too happy to send you a puppy or a kitten in the mail.


Up until DeJoy wrecked the Post Office and the chicks started arriving dead...
