The Health Department in Montgomery County has lost ALL credibility after this past year.
Did this come from Dr. Gayles?
Yes the covid numbers in MoCo are atrocious compared to the rest of Maryland .... oh wait. It is the opposite. Never mind.

I’m surprised that MCPS is leaving this in the hands of parents, in some ways.
Our ES can’t even use PTA funds to hire extra aides, etc because it is not ‘equitable’. Yet, the difference between a parent-sponsored prom in Potomac and a parent-sponsored prom in Wheaton are likely very different.
MCPS doesn’t have concerns about the Equity? Or Inequity in this case, where wealthier schools will sponsor a prom, but lower-income schools will not be able to?
The point is that it's not the wealthier schools sponsoring a prom.
Also, there's no such thing as a "parent-sponsored prom", in my opinion. If it's not a school-sponsored event, then it's not a prom, it's just a party with formalwear.

Refer to PP on rich & popular kids vs. others left out.
Yeah I think it’s shitty.

You are just jealous as the Wheaton kids will have more fun than the Potomac kids. This isn't about equity, its about safety. Maybe your rich PTSA should help some of the poor Wheaton PTSA's and make things equal. You could donate a few hundred to each PTSA.
Ahh. The asking for a handout speech for equity sake. Original.

Kids are resilient they don't need these things their silly parents do.
Americans and their "freedoms" idiots. Leave the USA if you are not happy with the schools, Biden, "wokeness" "cancel culture". Get dictionaries people your lack of intelligence is showing.
Without ultra-conservatives we would have been out already, back in schools, but you idiots put on socks daily and wouldn't wear a little mask. OMG>

But, this is a very small inconvenience and a very small sacrifice yo make for the health of America.
Finally, a voice of reason, thank you. But please check whether some parent prom group at your school is organizing something.
Our kids have been asked to sacrifice so much already. For the ‘health of America’.

As a parent of a 6th grader who did not get a 5th grade promotion last year, 5th grade promotion doesn't matter one bit.
I feel bad for the high schoolers but understand the rationale.
Anonymous wrote:Sorry, the MoCo health department has WON credibility for mentioning the obvious. It is not banning private proms, it is merely reminding us, what we should already know, that such gatherings, unless outside and supervised, WILL spread Covid.
