Plus, not all "foundation" is heavy/cakey. I apply a thin layer of Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer daily; it's an extra layer of sunscreen. There's also a Sheshiedo "self-refreshing" foundation that is light and goes on like a dream and melts into your skin; it also has SPF.

OP here. I’m black. While black women age differently than white women, we still age. There are many common mistakes that are relevant across race like not changing ones hairstyle. Box braids down the back may look good on a 20 year old.... but not so much on most 50 year olds. Changing our markup and skincare routine is relevant also.
And OP let’s not forget the fundamentals!! Black and white women BOTH need to take care of their physical health - do weight bearing exercise for bone health, get our mammograms, and destress.

The only beauty mistake I see 40+ women making is forgetting themselves and self care! They are taking care of everyone else and not themselves. Other than that, who TF cares if you have grays and a few extra pounds and wear keens? I think my friends look lovely and that is because they still find clothing that makes them feel good and like to express themselves and have fulfilling jobs and lives. Happiness is the best look.
Kate Middleton is very relevant to this thread bc she makes so many 40+ beauty mistakes-too thin, heavy makeup, wrinkles galore, which look super weird when you have a shiny, over-Botoxed forehead.

The main thing people fail to do is whiten/brighten their teeth. Most people have gray/yellow teeth and this is something I definitely notice. If you drink coffee or wine your teeth are not as white as they could be. This is a small fix that anyone can do themselves and it makes a huge difference.

I agree with this. I think the same goes for makeup. Getting stuck on a look and not evaulating if it continues to work for you and flatter as your age. One of the worst makeup offenders:
She’s also example of the mistake of making yourself too thin. Lack of fat in your face makes you look haggard. It also really brings out wrinkles.
I can’t speak for the Duchess, and I know she’s quite thin, but many of us have narrow faces that do not reflect our overall body fat! I have plenty of junk in my trunk but if I tried to lose any of it, the weight would undoubtedly come from
my already thin face instead of my ass. I short, some of us can’t help the thin faced aging.
The Duchess actually has a very broad and full-face. More narrow faced women, yes, this is a byproduct but that's not her. She and her mother and sister are clinging to the 1999 Estee Lauder counter mall makeup and she is exceptionally thin, hence the haggard look all the time. The super dated ringing of the eyes was aging at 25 and it is tragic at +/-40.
Every photo I’ve seen of her recently , she is looking amazing. I’m sure there are unflattering photos of all us taken at some point.
Can you post some of these recent, attractive pictures? I haven’t seen one picture where she hasn’t looked at least 10 years older than her age.
