Among heterosexual couples, 38% of women earned more than their men. It’s a significant fraction.

Even now, it is relatively rare to find a couple where the wife is the higher earner. 95% of women significantly improve their wealth and lifestyle through marriage to a higher status/wealthier man.
Among all of my friends who married, none of them lived nicer lives than they did after marriage. Their husbands are all well to do.
Yes, what's the point? I have a friend who married into a family who's worth $50 million. They're in real estate and own so many properties in the DC area it's crazy. She was living off a $50k salary 12 years ago. Now, she's a SAHM with one kid in a $1.7m house. Her husband makes $400k a year. They have two weekend homes and both drive $50k SUVs.
Lucky her

Despite being rather bookish, I wasn't earning much. Thanks to my good looks and great personality, I ended up married to a really rich guy. He was gruff in the beginning, and -- I hate to say, because looks aren't everything -- he was basically a walking dog. But over time he softened and opened up and things are going great. We even have a full staff -- maid, cook, etc. So yeah, my circumstances have definitely improved. But, it goes both ways. I have a girlfriend who was raised a real princess and had everything you could ask for (including exotic animals as pets!), but she ended up married to a real street rat with sticky fingers. IDK, they seem happy when we all get together.
Is this Belle from beauty and the beast?
And then Jasmine and Aladdin!
