That's fine, I just don't want it to be rabidly politically active blue-only neighborhood. We had lived in blue cities and come from a very progressive one and I am quite liberal. I just prefer a place where there are both Biden and Trump signs at election and diversity of opinions, e.g. tolerance towards differences as I do not fall cleanly into either political party any longer. I would think DC must have political variety in the city itself and certainly in nearby burbs by the nature of what this city is about. Also we are a mixed race family.

DC is a democratic town, but it's not Portland. It's funny b/c I find DC to be rather conservative in many ways. I don't consider DC to be that "woke".

No OP, it won’t. You need to be looking in the South if that’s what you want.

But OP wants GQP accepted as well. Is that Great Falls?

Don't know what "GQP" stands for. It wasn't in the first post and I didn't read the entire thread. I assume it doesn't mean "General Quality of Parks". We do have Riverbend and Great Falls park which is a nice perk.

QAnon.

+1. The piece of the GOP that’s gone full QAnon/ Big Lie, as opposed to the traditional conservative wing.

Traditional conservatives are outnumbered in Fairfax County, but it’s fine. Agree to disagree and move on. Plenty of old school GOP I like and respect. Kids are friends, don’t talk politics, it’s fine.

After 1/6, Trump supporters aren’t welcome. Full stop. Really, after C-vile I had a friend in the Capitol. Many of us had connections. The National Guard taking over the city has been awful. These people are dangerous and violent and crazy. They are white super sits who threaten my Asian neighbors. So, no I can’t peacefully co-exist with them. I’m woke. They are cancelled. Whatever. They have done so much damage. So many people have died. The fact OP is looking for Trump and Biden supporters to just get along tells he doesn’t belong in Fairfax Co.

That's a weird abbreviation. There aren't any "p"s in that word.

I don't know any Q Anon people so no, he's safe from that here lol.

NP. Maybe that's GOP + QAnon - now that QAnon has taken over the Republican party?

Anonymous wrote:We are considering moving from a very large liberal city where our kids attend a very diverse school. We are looking for a place that would be politically diverse and where people are generally open minded and not up in arms if you are not woke enough or don't uniformly recite CNN and/or liberal outlets or vice versa, we don't discriminate. We are likely to live in the residential or suburban area as we want more space and outdoors. I really dislike wokeness in general, so a woke neighborhood would not be a good fit, neither would be predominantly hard core republican or religious area. I am hoping DC metro is a mix due to it being the seat of power and variety of political views represented. Is this true?

It doesn't sound like you want diversity if you aren't willing to listen to anyone who you deem too "woke" And how can we tell you where you will be comfortable in? It isn't like we know everyone in DC! I live in an area very Liberal but, I keep my opinions to myself, even if I agree with them. There is plenty to talk about without mentioning politics!

Your first issue will simply be affording a place. The biggest shock for people moving here is the price of real estate. Your budget, not your politics, is going to be the main determining factor.

And, yes, Trump signs were shocking to see in our upper NW DC neighborhood, especially after Charlottesville. After 1/6 I saw zero Trump signs. There are some conservatives in the neighborhood, lots of Catholics who send their kids to Blessed Sacrament, etc., but no one I know who actually lives in the city was able turn a blind eye to Trump's damage to the country after the January insurrection.

I talk about the downfalls of wokeness all the time. I've voted D in every election since I was 18. I work in human rights. I'm married to an immigrant and I am Hispanic. Aversion to cult wokeness is not limited to white Trumpers living in the boonies.

Look at how areas vote (hint: Trump signs unwelcome in DC).

I'm in VA outside the beltway, and OP needs to go further out that this. Plenty of BLM signs and outdoor mask wearing in Fairfax, and everybody I know is vaccinated or wants to be.

Keep heading west, OP. Or south.

Western Fairfax here. We’re too woke for OP. Who lost me at wanting Trump and Biden signs to co-exist in peace. This area is full of the people who had to live with Trump here and try to keep the government functioning through the nuttiness. We know how corrupt, dangerous and bad it was. And we were here 1/6. Just no. Bush, Romney, etc signs. Sure. Not Tru,p. Also, a very immigrant heavy area. Very high vaccine acceptance. My kids aren’t little anymore, but the tweens and teens are masked. Lots of emphasis on academics and college admissions. Most kids go big into sports or fine arts as well.

OP would be miserable. Head West OP. Western Loudoun maybe. I’d say Prince William but (lowers voice) the Hispanics are there). Good luck!

Well said. WTF to the bolded.

Do NOT move to Chevy Chase. Pence did for a few months, which resulted in protests, dance parties, and rainbow flags.
