There was no right answer to the teacher's question. He was going to jump down the student's throat no matter what he said. He just refused to play this silly game (or at least, he refused to give the teacher the 'win condition' he was seeking).

the teacher was clearly setting up a discussion about how race is culturally determined, not a “gotcha.” You’re majorly projecting if you object to saying “there’s a white woman and a black woman.” The student was being purposefully challenging, and from the tone, sounds like he had a pattern of that.

I always hated those students who challenged teachers. I mean, where does it all end? Independent thinking, responsibility for one's own beliefs and actions, not believing in the superiority of the collective, not supporting what professional educators have long believed. I mean, teachers study this stuff, they get together to compare research, and how dare anyone question them. WE KNOW! I mean, who are all these MBAs, JDs, PhDs who are questioning literally years' and years' of research. They are not EdD's. Peer-reviewed means PEERS people, not people who haven't studied education--how can they understand the statistics, reasoning, and intentions we use? This lack of respect is really disheartening, I don't know where it comes from. And certainly not 'parents'-they haven't been trained in anything.
