SC seems to veer closer to CBS (Big Bang Theory, HIMYM) where people are way meaner to each other. Just SC does it subtler

I love Brookly 99!

I'm confused by your post though. SC is the least mean show I've ever seen. Literally the core theme of the show is that everyone belongs.

Who in their right mind wants to watch two seasons of a series before it "gets good?"

Same!!

Last episode of season 2 when they are in the restaurant really helped me see the show's heart and where it was going. Try to hang on until then!!! If you can't deal, just skip ahead to that episode

+1
I hated this show and love all the shows mentioned in the OP. This one did nothing for me.

I was pretty much hooked after the first couple episodes. If you're that far in and not enjoying it that much, it may just not be for you. I do have to be honest though - I gave up on it around season 3 or 4. I just didn't find the plot that interesting anymore (due to a romantic plotline w one of the main characters).

Especially since we’re always looking for something light and funny to watch.

I loved Ted Lasso though. I think I just enjoy the culture clash on that one more because the protagonist isn’t cynical, and the cynicism of others is played as a joke. I have really grown to detest cynicism and even though it’s not the heart of Schitt’s Creek, there’s a lot of it in the early episodes and it just puts a damper on it for me.

It’s actually a relief sometimes to realize a show everyone loves just isn’t for me. It’s like a reminder that I still can still think for myself and don’t have to like things because everyone else does.

I don’t understand what is eyeroll worthy about the bolder statement.

DP. It is obnoxious in its pretension and condescension.

How is it pretentious or condescending. I honestly don't get it. Why is it pretentious not to like a show others enjoy? Why is it condescending to realize that means I'm still in touch with my own tastes and preferences and not caving to peer pressure to enjoy something popular? I didn't mean it in a condescending or pretentious way so I am confused as to why it's being taken that way.

“Sometimes I worry that I’ve become as basic as the rest of you, but then I realize the stuff you like is beneath me and I feel better.”

Not every thought in your head needs to be said aloud (or posted on the internet).

I am not PP and I personally love SC but I actually don't think this is what PP was saying. I think they're saying that sometimes its nice to find yourself going against the grain because it shows that your interests are anchored in your own free will and not in the opinions of the masses.

I don't think it has anything to do specifically with SC just like, sometimes its nice to know you have a mind of your own.

Agree that not every thought needs to be posted on the internet, but, you, PP, should be writing for TV. This could have come right out of the mouth of Lucille Bluth (RIP Jessica Walter).

I couldn't get into it at first so I tried watching it again over Christmas. There are only a few LOL parts of it. If you want a show like that, SC is not it.

It took me a few episodes to get into it. It really hit its stride in season 2. I watch a lot of heavy shows and I was happy to find a comedy during lockdown.

I would not expect it to be a show that everyone likes because there IS no show that is universally liked. I didn't recommend it to my DH, for example, because I'm 90% certain he would find it annoying.

I laughed out loud all the time when watching it. I even watched it a second time and it’s even funnier.
