Investing on my own: $400k per year.

Working is for suckers. I only stay at my job the the healthcare and that's it.

No, it’s extremely rare for a new CS graduate to start at 100k. Maybe the top 2-4%.

38, statistician with MS in statistics. Salary $110K. Unless I change industries, I’ve pretty much maxed out my salary beyond COL raises.

Me - 30, $120k Fed Analyst (HR-adjacent). Ivy undergrad Psychology & Sociology, Master's HR Mgmt. My undergrad degree helped me get in the door to a GS-5 internship, and grad degree, in addition to mentorship and taking advantage of opportunities, helped with a career ladder into my current position. My education was a privilege for sure as an URM from a disadvantaged SES.

DH - 35, $100k Shipping and logistics manager for a small business + online reselling side hustle. College dropout but he outhustles me and is far more street smart.

Joined a startup as one of the first 10 employees and was eventually acquired


What was backup planning startup failed; I’ve looked at plenty but the high risk of flaming out and not making rent was dicey for us.

Joined a startup as one of the first 10 employees and was eventually acquired


What was backup planning startup failed; I’ve looked at plenty but the high risk of flaming out and not making rent was dicey for us.

with commission last year $260k and trending for $290k this year.

College dropout but grew up in a rich $$$$ Bay Area suburb and have good people skills.

I only just now saw this reply - sorry! I work for a bank not headquartered in DC - I just have to travel frequently due to being remote. I was in DC prior to taking the role and was able to negotiate staying here because we do have an office for some government related activity and lobbying (unrelated to my work but means I have a place to go). Now with covid we are even more remote work friendly.


DP are you in investment banking?
