I wish the documentary had listed all of the schools involved and the amount of money allegedly (or admittedly) being "donated" to each.

Apologies - you are correct! I often get that one wrong bc Stanford is strong in certain areas of study.

I agree that the kids who bought their way in are glaringly obvious - both throughout senior year in high school and well afterward! The parents do them no favors.

Of course it's forgotten! People understand this for what it is, a minuscule anomaly, and treat it as such. Systemic issues - e.g. Asians being deprived of admission under "holistic bullcrap" pretenses - are systemic and are here to stay, and yeah, people want them gone.

In the Varsity Blues scenario, there's also the irony of how it's OK to bribe institutions but not OK to bribe one their minions which has people rolling their eyes. If the crime was really that serious, why not throw these folks in jail for years and not a few weeks as was done? If they had tried that every case would have been fought and the prosecution would have lost in a Jury trial. All it takes is one. It was all a big joke!

He got shafted. I honestly liked the Stanford coach and he was the most sympathetic of the entire bunch. I will buy his book.

He admitted he put forth to admissions 2 applicants as sailing recruits that were not actual recruits. That's worth some jail time.

Yeah but there’s more to the story. He talked about how the head athletic coach knew Rick Singer and he just dropped by the first time to meet the sailing coach. This scandal goes a lot deeper than the sailing coach and he ended up being the fall guy.
