Ok. So stay home. What's the problem? People aren't getting COVID from doctor's offices.
By the way, the claimmwasnt that everyone could be vaccinated by May. The claim was that we'll have produced enough doses by the end of May. Distribution and administration will take a bit more time.

Nope, we can't, because it's NEVER "another month or two." I am old enough to remember when we were told we were shutting down to "flatten the curve" and "prevent the hospitals from being overloaded." Well, the curve is flattened and the hospitals never overloaded. The goal posts just keep moving. Next it's going to be "well, ppl with underlying medical conditions and old people and service workers are vaccinated, but there's no vax for kids!! Can't you just wait two more months until all of the kids are vaxed?" No. Cut the BS.
This +1000. Covid 19 is not ever going away. There will always be a portion of the population that simply will not get the vaccine. This is called survival of the fittest. You can’t fix stupid. It is to the point now where opening up has to be considered a benefit for the majority. Over a million people have received their first shot. People still have to wear masks.

Conservative cred? Have you looked at the Republican party recently? He's not going anywhere in the Republican party after this. And he's been more cautious about reopening than some Democratic governors. He's not getting "conservative cred" on COVID.
If he wants to be a talking head on cable news, he's already gotten that locked up by being critical of Trump.
Basically, Hogan is unusually free to act in the best interest of the state without undue political influence.

If he actually wanted to do what's best for the people of his state, politics be damned, he'd focus on a functioning vaccine sign-up and distribution system for the populations in his state most affected by covid.

Perhaps. But do you see the Democrat-led counties doing that either?
Honestly, at this point it's too late. We were worried about vaccination capacity, so the plan was to use a combination of state, local and private providers. But then ended up with so few doses that, at least initially, we would have been better off keeping it centralized. With vaccine production still ramping up, it doesn't make sense to switch now. By the time we'd be able to change things, we'll have more doses than can be managed centrally.

Me. Would I ok if I got it? Probably. Would it be really really really stupid if I got it NOW, just so that Hogan can try to burnish his reputation with the Republicans for that campaign for president he's embarking on, by lifting restrictions about 6 weeks too early? Yes.

You Debbie Downers say that every month or two.
There are three effective vaccines, and it appears likely that there will be enough for every adult in America by the end of May. We are vaccinating 2-3 million people a day. We can literally see the end of the tunnel. Everyone who dies between now and then is someone who wouldn't have died if they could have gotten vaccinated. I know that a lot of people don't give a sh** about anyone other than themselves, but Jesus, I hope that marshmallow tastes good.
