I'm the OP of this thread from 2 years ago and my son ended up choosing STA.
His choices were Potomac, Sidwell and STA.
He's had a great experience-I do think he made the right choice. I toured Potomac
again this fall for a younger sibling and while I liked it, it consistently seems like more of a generic high school.
STA has all the history and traditions that I really don't think you find anywhere else. The teachers
are fantastic. My son is doing fine with the single gender thing--he's fairly social and meets girls
through social media, etc.
OP, my son has the exact same choices and also chose STA. I wasn’t thrilled but he was adamant, and now we are so happy that he knew what was right for him. We have been so impressed with the faculty - unbelievably smart and invested in the students - and academics, and we have enjoyed the community. Our son also appreciates the traditions, so much so that he would like to find a college with a similar environment.
