Anonymous wrote:From someone who works in an admissions office in an independent school in the DMV-- everyone take a breath. I know this year has been more than stressful for us and our children. I have children of my own that I have applied to schools for too. Remember--- your children will be fine. We are so fortunate to live in an area with great options. This year, applications were sky high---spaces are limited. Schools are trying their best to determine if the school is the best fit for the child and family. This isn't college admissions and is not determining their path for their rest of their life. So-- take a breath, enjoy your child and celebrate their uniqueness. Focus on the positive and know that everything works out for the best. And, if it doesn't, there are always options--nothing is permanent. Be there for your child too-- don't let them feel your disappointment if they don't get into your first choice. Our children need love and support right now and not rejection. So even if there isn't a spot at the school they/you were hoping for, focus on the positives and build up your children. This isn't about us.

Got one too. Feel like it is a set up to prepare for the ultimate let down.
Same here. Got one from Holton and one from GDS saying that decisions will be released after 4pm. I said to myself, "this is the waitlist or reject email".
My DD told me that one of her friends received an email saying that "your application looks good and we are looking forward to seeing in the next school year".
I'm expecting all WL or rejections because we applied for FA.
I absolutely HATE this process.![]()
Your DD’s friend is messing with her (and you). People aren’t getting those emails.
Maybe, maybe not. Some schools call a few days ahead if the family has a kid currently at the school.
This sounds like an urban legend. I honestly would see no reason why a school would do that.
The legend is that they call a few days ahead with a rejection, not an acceptance.
Ooof. Well that I could actually see.
No, I am this PP. We have three kids; for the second two we got the call a few days ahead that our kid was accepted. Happened again this year, call came on Tuesday.

The main schools emailed about on here only call a few days before for a sibling if it is a rejection. If it is a sibling being admitted, they might get an earlier notification the day-of.

I just reread one of my parent essays on an application and was like "Oh I should have added *abcde*!"
I did that ten seconds after I hit submit on one application and I was kicking myself for the rest of the day while trying to figure out how to resubmit it.
Yeah, I found a obvious grammatical error in one essay that I thought we proofread many times. We applied to 7 schools. That was a lot of essays.
