So up until now, they've been teaching from home with young children at home, either teaching while parenting and half-assing it or teaching and letting their kids run wild (this is what the teacher's kids are doing in my kids' classes). IOW, it's been a childcare issue the entire school year but up until now they've gotten away with it...

They've decided that childcare would be too expensive vs their salary so they are staying home with their kids. It have nothing to do with vaccines.
Did they get a vaccine before giving notice?
We need teachers vaccinated. We need virtual teachers vaccinated. We need hybrid teachers vaccinated. We need teachers returning at a later date vaccinated.
If you're talking about things we need, we need for teachers not to quit in March. Vaccinated or unvaccinated. But we don't get what we need, do we?

They just don't feel safe going back to school, I am wondering how many more teachers will end of taking leave after the kids go back next week.
Did they give back their vaccines?

Fine if they don’t want to come back, but they could have told us in July, so we could have had a full year substitute instead of just randos every few months. It was selfish.
It was legal and they deserve their maternity and family leave like anyone else. The timing is quite unfortunate and frustrating though. I imagine if they weren’t teachers the optics would be different.
