My parents did this to me, have me be in charge of my 2 much younger siblings every summer starting when I was 14. And being 14 you can’t drive so you are a prisoner in your own home. They never paid me. It was awful. I still have so much resentment about it (no I don’t need therapy over it) and would NEVER do this to my kids. For a night or an afternoon, sure but for a summer. F no.

Save the money and tell her she needs to stay with them most of the time when they aren’t in camp.
A 10 and 12 year can be home alone for an few hours a couple of times a week.
