They need to go on the record on their position on When exactly they think schools need to open or should open. It’s literally one of the most important issues right now.

Thanks, Republicans, but no... you understand that the Dems control Virginia and you won't affect their votes, right??
Move to Texas if it's that important to you. Ugh.
I'm a Democrat and have been LOUD AND CLEAR I support this bill and I know more people like me that aren't like me. I've not only emails, but I've called twice about this.
Newsflash! Democrats care about equality and education too!
If only those we elected to sit on the school board cared.![]()
I'll be a one-issue voter this June And November, unfortunately.
We’re stuck with this SB for another 2 years!!
Make sure you remember in 2023.

Anonymous wrote:Hope you are all emailing Marsden. He sent a very stupid reply back to me last week and didn't reply to my follow up Q. Basically he doesn't want schools open until teachers and kids are vaccinated. I asked, when exactly do you think schools should open, because there's no vaccine for kids yet? and he never replied...

I support the general idea of this bill, but I can't really see this being added to in a substantial way now that it is out of committee. This is just a slapdash reactionary bill--- not good legislating on the part of those who are the sponsors (Peterson). As it is written, it is reckless.
Anonymous wrote:SB1303, which mandates an in-person school option, passed the Education Committee in the Senate on 1/28 (YAY!). But it still has a ways to go to become law. WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
The bill will go before the full VA Senate next week (wk of 2/1). Please contact your VA State Senator right away and share your opinion!
You can find his/her contact info here: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
If it passes the full senate vote, then it will go before the House of Delegates the week after (wk of 2/8). Please contact your VA Delegate and share your opinion!
You can find his/her contact info here: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov/
If it passes the House of Delegates, then it will go before Governor Northam. Please contact Governor Northam and share your opinion! You can do that here: https://www.governor.virginia.gov/constituent-services/communicating-with-the-governors-office/
I know there are tentative plans to bring kids back into the classroom in March, but we can’t rely on that given the teachers unions’ bully pulpit, especially w/r/t next school year. There needs to be someone/something that PUTS OUR CHILDREN FIRST!
Anonymous wrote:I looked up the bill and it’s very simple: just says students must have an in-person option (always, I presume). So the idea is that schools can never physically close no matter what?
