Enough with the shaming, OP. These moms chose a relatively safe way to socialize. Stop judging others or “Stay the f*** home”.
Why not wear a mask, though? Why not to afford others a safe way to socialize?
Because socializing outdoors with a mask is low risk as is socializing outdoors without a mask. Maybe these moms needed to have real social interaction and see each others’ faces. Socializing outdoors is low risk in general and policing others with your superfluous mask rules isn’t helpful. Personally I am happy that people are finding less risky ways to get their social needs met. You have no idea what mental health challenges others are facing right now. I wish more people would look at the messaging that Julia Marcus has put out regarding risk reduction.
Anonymous wrote:Just venting. I wanted to say something to these adults but my husband insisted we just leave. We are in dc where it’s the law to wear masks. This was a small playground, the adults were talking animatedly and loudly, and the kids (masked, except for theirs) had to pass around their conversation to go from one part of the enclosed area to another. What would u have done?

It’s a highly contagious pandemic, Karen, so it is most definitely my business. It’s not about you - I don’t give a crap if you get it - it’s about you giving it to my kids or others.
Seriously, how often does this need to be explained to you?
Then stay home and keep your kids locked up. If you're worried about yourself and your kids, then understand that that is under your control.
Ignorant people like you are the problem and are the cause of DL and closed businesses. But the Trumpers are known to hurt their interests the most- as always.

Nope. Look in the mirror to see what's causing schools to stay closed. Life has risks. When people are acting rationally, they mitigate the risks as well as they reasonably can, accept what's left, and move on with their lives.

Lol. Brilliant satire.
For real, no sarcasm. This is the perfect comment
You have a very low bar for satire.
What's appealing and not fun, is that people would rather have everyone else locked up than wear a mask.

I can't see if I where a mask because my glasses fog up. It's particularly bad if it's cold outside. I will wear masks if I'm close to others, but I don't wear them if I don't have to.
I wear glasses too. Pull the mask up your nose, put the glasses on top of the mask. This usually works for me.
Have your been outside in cold weather? That doesn't work. Yes, it blocks the air from coming up by your nose, but not by your cheek bones. The colder weather is much less forgiving because the water vapor condenses so much more easily.
Mine fog up too. I deal with it. Adult.
If it's true you have glasses, then I doubt you spend much time outside. Particularly doing anything that gets your breathing rate up. Otherwise you quite literally won't be able to see in front of yourself.
I not only wear glasses, I wear progressives. giant ones. Believe me I understand. I still keep my mask on. Some of them I’ve sound wires into and some of them I just deal with fog until I’m alone and can adjust it. Some people I know use a little double stick tape. I prefer not to do that so I just tough it out when I don’t have the nose wires. It’s
Not fun coming in from outside or outside from in but once you transition to whatever the temperature is it’s fine. If you’re having this much of a problem you’re wearing the wrong kind of mask.
