OP I think she is abusive, but I have two questions:

1) why didn’t you just get out of bed instead of grabbing her ankle so hard that it left a bruise? This is very wrong of you... she might have started, but her kicks did not hurt as much as your ankle grabbing so you definitely escalated and became violent

2) when she threw the alarm clock, was the light on? Was she aiming at you/your face? Not that throwing something hard anywhere is right, but if she threw something bf without looking, you got hit by accidents. Still wrong and she should apologize... as you should apologize for hurting her ankle

Click was thrown after I got out of bed. Spouse went to the bathroom, came back and threw it. I’d like to divorce her, but cannot come up with the retainer for a lawyer unless I stop paying the mortgage.

If you're going by that then OP is just as guilty. She kicked him. He grabbed her foot hard enough to bruise she threw a clock to stop him from grabbing her. At some point OP got out of bed it;s not clear if this was before or after the pinching/ kicking sequence.
