Yeah I mean if the genders were reversed I think I’d feel the same way. If you just sort of whisper mutter “wait” at the very end, is that really revoking consent? But I think she was in the wrong and should have apologized for it. It bothered me that it was never portrayed as a bad thing. Or maybe I’m missing something.

Loved the show but LOATHED the Eloise character. She’s independent in the books but they took it way too far in the show. Plus, Eloise is 16/17, why they would cast someone who looks every bit of her 31 years and sounds like a pack a day smoker, I do not know. I also had issues with the Penelope character. Penelope is really sharp in the books and in the show she was way too whiny.

Some of the costumes/hair/make-up remind me of the Capitol scenes in The Hunger Games.

I don't mind the diverse cast because it's fiction and based on semi trashy romance novels, it's not meant to be accurate. It will always be silly to me to see the diverse cast pretending to be regency aristocrats, but as I already mentioned, it's a silly production, not history. Downton was trying to be more realistic so a diverse cast would not work in a Downton type story the way Bridgeton gets away with. And, of course, both Shakespeare's plays and operas have long been colorblind.

But I do know no one would dare film a story set in a different race/culture and deliberately use a diverse cast, so there is a double standard at work here, and it’s hard to deny that.

Unwatchable middle-brow trash.

Outlander is more like a historical show with romance. If you aren't into history, you won't like it.

For the love of pete, I read this post and watched the first 4 episodes of season 1 of Outlander and it is so damn boring. There is no hotness so far, just the main character following around the guy with the broken arm. So bored!

Nothing beats Jamie and Claire's chemistry... Keep watching and you will see some of the hottest scenes ever!!! The wedding scenes are some of the best!

I watched it! It just didn’t do it for me. Maybe I’ll go back and rewatch since I binged all of bridgerton, just to see if I still feel the same way.

If I am reading any romance novel I expect steamy passionate sex scenes.

Me too!! I want more steamy scenes. I love that they show him going down on daphne too!

I read every book and loved them all. The series is very different but still excellent! In the books the siblings seem a lot closer and Eloise was excited for her sisters wedding. The books are sexy too, it’s nice to see them come to life on the screen. If you love the show, I recommend reading the first book “the duke and I”
