I love the snuggles from our pre-schooler. Our room is always open for the kid.

My kids are little, and yes of course they are allowed in my room. They fall asleep in my bed at night and I carry them to their own beds when I’m ready to sleep. I love that they are so attached and enjoy the warm family dynamic. It is not what I experienced growing up, and I really believe the coldness contributed to a stiff and impersonal relationship with my parents when I became an adult.

+1

If our door is closed, DS knows to knock (which is also a recent request from him at almost 13) but other than that, yes. He also wanders in a few nights a week at 4 or 5am and crawls into bed. Then I'm stuck between two heaters (DH and DS) and I sweat out the remaining few hours in bed until I get up.

Our door is open and our little ones rarely come in until they wake up in the morning. The door is open so I can listen for the baby. Once I awhile one of them will have a bad dream and come in with us. I’m fine with that as the snuggle years will fly by.
