No, leggings are not pants. Can you read? I said, “I presume you were not going to the opera,” which means a sweater is not okay for the opera and you were not going to the opera, so a sweater of any kind is find for a date. If it is a casual meet up and not overly formal, a sweater is appropriate. Especially if meeting outside! You have major issues in determining what matters in a relationship.

I might get where you’re coming from, OP. I HATE a man in a sweater, unless he has a button down or something visibly underneath. If not, I just imagine chest hair tangling in the knit and....yuck. Mentally it’s the equivalent of fingernails on a blackboard or tissue paper on teeth for me. I do however realize this is a super-peculiarity of mine though and don’t judge people on it upfront - and if it’s one of yours, you should too.

If that was OP who posted the link, it wasn’t a hoodie but a cowl neck sweater. Since they were likely dining outside, that seems like a smart choice so that he didn’t need to keep a coat on, which would have been awkward.

OP, you would come to appreciate that level of practicality when you had a kid and he was responsible for packing the diaper bag with sensible clothes, for example. You need to think ahead in these things.
