And Olney is where people move when they're racist and don't think Rockville or Gaithersburg schools have enough caucasians and can't afford living in Bethesda.
Height of hypocrisy when someone calls Olney racist, but half of pps here are recommending to OP to look just a bit further to Ellicott City that just might be the most racist town in MD.

Olney is 70% white and Rockville is 60% white; Columbia is 55% white.
The big difference is Olney has less socioeconomic diversity (read: far less rentals).
Public schools in Olney and Kensington have comparable racial demographics.
I don't think your numbers are correct.
Olney is 59% white, Rockville is 47% white and Columbia is 44% white as of 2017.

No because Columbia is more Baltimore based. You don’t have AS many people who travel to DC for work although there are some.

Olney is safer than Columbia (dramatically safer per this data).

Perhaps that does not impact residential areas nearby though.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Most of my friends who moved to Olney wouldn't move to Columbia because columbia is more "diverse" and "urban" and that wasn't what they wanted for schools. That's the Olney mindset (and has been for decades - it was the original white flight destination from silver spring)
Olney is a quiet diverse town. It is not the olney mindset like this person states.
