As a former coach and strength coach, I would highly recommend that if your player is not able to maintain the training that they had right before this mandate went into place, I would recommend that you seek someone that will do strength training/speed training/fitness with them. It is important because you do not want your son or daughter to go back playing games and high intense practice not ready because that is just a injury waiting to happen. I would be glad to help if anyone is interested.

Completely wrong. Please inform yourself better.

Naive way to look at it. We have to do something to control the virus

Okay but the hospitalization and death rate remains constant (and low).

Simply not true. Look at any number of hospitalization metrics that are widely and readily available. The death rates are creeping up slower, and are a trailing indicator, and we do have better treatments, but even with all that it is not constant and on the rise.

It is the morons and deniers like this that undercut us rational folks, who try to make arguments based on real science and data, that some of these outdoor size/sport restrictions do more harm than good. Let the kids have some exercise and socialization in what is an extremely low transmission environment.

And my response to you:
It is the morons and deniers like this that undercut us rational folks, who try to make arguments based on real science and data.

Right. All that evidence showing higher infectious rates in MoCo and Baltimore Vs NOVA. And the absolute idiocy of thinking that any of the state governments have any substantial impact on infection rate vs a zillion more important local micro factors. But sure. We are all just deniers who just happen to be embarassing you with actually relevant facts. I suppose you also thought the Europeans were doing an amazing job as well. What we are all discovering is that the virus does not choose to infect based on how virtuous or abstemious you believe yourself to be. Doesn’t mean that we should not do our best to flatten the curve. But your kind of nonsense hurts more than helps.

I don't necessarily disagree with anything in here, but why do people feel the need to post demonstrably false information on cases and hospitalizations? It's objectively and verifiably false. People can argue all they want on how to control it or the role of government in doing so, but facts are facts. Go pull up the chart on cases, positivity rate and hospitalizations on MDs website and you can say with a straight face its a fact that they are stable and not rising? One example: COVID-19 hospitalizations on 10/29 502, two weeks later on 11/12 863.

You can argue against restrictions, and I personally am strongly against most outdoor ones, but I really just don't get how some people spew nonsense that is easily proven false. That's what distracts and undercuts a real discussion of mitigation.

Yes, the stupidity that is Maryland has finally begun for the winter. Our team too - a local team in VA that can't play in a local MD tournament.

Is the tournament canceled or are out of state teams being excluded? I saw a tweet suggesting that Howard County tournaments with out of state teams were canceled.

They are trying to reschedule with just MD teams, but we’ll see if they are able to do it or if they need to cancel the tournament

Thank you for the information. As usual, confusion created by imprecise messaging. Rather than saying that the tournament is cancelled, the message should have said that out of state teams will not be permitted at any tournament

We are an out of state (VA) team and the tournament has still not answered our question about whether they are refunding our money. If the county thinks it is best to cancel for health reasons, that is fine, but we need our money back from the tournament. Hopefully the tournament will give it to us, but they need to pick up the pace on their response.

The Columbia tournament is not held in Montgomery County, so i'm not sure why you are discussing it here.

Why? They played in the tournament with their teammates and they practice with the same teammates. Same "bubble".

So youre saying testing has QUADRUPLED over the last week ?

This "more testing equals more cases" is trump rhetoric, with his idiot supporters repeating it like a dumb parrot that they are.

The positivity rate has more than doubled.

Remember- Maryland has done a pretty damn good job at keeping numbers down. Other states not so much. We are starting off at a much better spot than most- so the worst for us will be delayed a bit. But its coming.
