The reason why in person works for private schools is because the safety measures are state of the art. Dcps could NEVER afford the safety measures- not even close. Also, unlike public schools, you can’t send your kid to school sick. It’s shameful.

Ha sure I joined the union for the $800 bonus I get after taxes. It’s probably a wash after you factor in union dues. I joined years ago when I was persuaded by the union rep at my school. But please keep making unfounded assumptions that every teacher who doesn’t agree with the union on this is money grubbing and a hypocrite or whatever.

It's about 7,500 after tax (DC tax). Guess you've never been highly effective before, figures. But to get that you have to be a part of the union.
I also just said I don't agree with everything but I'm also not kissing strangers bums on a forum, just so I can seem like a 'different' teacher.

How do you get a bonus without being highly effective? Guess you’ve never read the IMPACT guidebook. Not sure how you can turn a $2,000 bonus into $7,500 AFTER taxes.

If you teach math or English and earn a highly effective rating at one of the 20 lowest schools, then the bonus is higher. WOTP I can get $2000 pre-tax.

Um multiple posters have been responding to this thread. I never said I worked at a school in upper NW (I am not PP). You seem like an unnecessarily combative person. And please laugh at my experience in urban high schools and the things I’ve seen and dealt with in my classroom. You are just looking to make it seem like you are the only ‘real’ teacher on here because your school is so rough. Get over yourself or add something useful to the conversation.
