At this point, with the way the market is, both apartments have been sold.

Agree, very nice and it has an elevator. Also the view from the windows seems a little better.

I don’t know if you’ve already made a decision on which condo. My advice is neither. You will find one that both of you like. Wait for it. You can put your stuff in storage and rent a furnished apartment as you look if you need to get out of your current place immediately.


Or if you’re hell-bent on buying something ASAP, getthe one with the elevator, it might be easier to sell when the kids are a little older. In other words buy something with the mindset of it will only be five years. If that’s the case, The one with the elevator makes more sense to have while babies are young. It would be easier to navigate if you need to have a baby and groceries carried up at the same time. And if you’re planning to have another baby, it makes even more sense.

Don’t think of this as your forever home. when your kids are about ready to go to school, then you look for the appropriate place to live based on school district if your kids will be going to public school.

After 6 months I couldn't lift the car seat and child in it so it would be miserable doing that in a walk up with stuff. Even at two. You are lucky your kids were walkers. Not all kids are, are sleeping, etc.

This. It seems to have a huge pantry and I would prefer a single large space than multiple closed doors across cabinets.

Hmm....this is a toughie.

Since you do the majority of the food preparation in the family then I would think that a kitchen that you are happy with should be a huge deal.

However if your wife will be doing a lot of the shopping + childcare duties, then having to walk up stairs everyday could get problematic in the long run.

Can you both continue your home search until you both find something mutually beneficial to you both??
If time is of the essence and you must purchase a place now, I would vote for the place w/the bigger kitchen.

There are a lot of young people moving out of the city selling in that price range. You really should have plenty of options. But an elevator is a must if you have any intention of having a baby.
