Everyone saying that schools should be prioritized ahead restaurants, movies, etc., clearly don't need those fields to make money. Open restaurants impacts the restaurant, suppliers, shipping, and employees.
DL is tough! I WFH full-time and have two kids learning via DL. I would love for my kids to go in-person, but not if they are going to be crowded in a classroom because teachers aren't showing up or parents send their kids in who have/had a fever and/or cough.

Well either most people understand the science, value the lives of others and their kids are doing fine on DL
OR
People are upset enough to post obsessively on DCUM about how much they hate DL and how damaged their kids are, but not upset enough to protest which kind of undermines their whole argument.
This is why people don't speak up - because then they are accused of being anti-science or being selfish and not caring about others.

+1000.
Your kids will pay the price for this for years to come.
You don’t know shit. I’m in the schools and the younger kids are thriving. The hybrid model has been amazing For kids under ten.. Smaller class ratios are a huge boon to most kids. I’ve seen gains in the last 30 days that are astounding, simply based on small class sizes and far less chaos. The kids who need the most are finally getting their needs met. The kids who can fly a bit faster are finally get challenged because the staff have the bandwidth during live classes to actually get to each kid. I’d stay with this model forever, if it was something the workplace would support.
The people suffering are the parents who are struggling to find ways to cover the home days.
cool story- no where around here is hybrid yet

Teachers want to be back at work. No teachers enjoy DL. Being mad at teachers unions is like telling at the grocery store clerk when your chip card doesn't work.
You being mad at the person at the end of the line helps nothing. Hold the anti maskers responsible. Hold the govt responsible for not getting schools upgraded with ventilation systems that won't spread the virus. You guys are mad at the wrong people.

same
Go back and read the first line of OP’s post. She’s not talking to you.
I don’t live in DC, but I live in “city like DC”, where public schools are 100% DL with no end in sight. I agree with you OP that they’re not going back anytime soon and I feel sick about it. For everyone saying they can’t believe public school parents are putting up with this, what exactly do you suggest we do?
