People complain about DL, kids being isolated. Then they try to get out of the house and people still complain.
They can "get out of the house" without using a basketball hoop that does not belong to them. Throw a ball. Ride a bike or scooter. Play with a basketball hoop purchased by their parents, which they own.
"Jesus" indeed.
Indeed! This reminds me of a bad experience I had. I live in a townhouse + some Brat decided to throw his ball against my door. I was going nuts. I told the kid to stop with his mom standing there. I pointed out where the parks are in Georgetown. The father ad the nerve to pound on the door saying I had no right to tell his kid to stop + that " he was a lawyer". I said I am too. This is D.C. Buddy. Ugh. People are just entitled jerks.

This! Celebrate that kids are being active in your neighborhood. How noisy can they be??
Exactly. All of this talk of shutting down the physical activity of children is discouraging. We need to show the kids all the beauty they possess inside. Instead of stifling them, we need to give them a sense of pride.

Unless you have BTDT, then take a seat. My neighbors put up a basketball hoop, totally on their property. They are nice people and I like them. Their teen boy has been out there for HOURS most days and the hoop is in sight and hearing distance of our deck and dining room. It's loud. It's like constantly being in that scene in A Wrinkle in Time where the kids are all bouncing a ball in front of their house.
In my situation, it's their house and I totally recognize that. If it was my basketball hoop on my property I'd offer hours they could play that wouldn't interfere with my work.

HAHAHAHA. How about you "celebrate" your own kids by keeping them off other people's private property and/or keeping them from using other people's things?
If you don't know "how noisy" a basketball hoop can be, with the endless bouncing echoing off the house and kids screeching at each other, you must be new to the planet.

She is the TEACHER, so presumably she has to speak. She says that her students can hear it. Yes, it is her property and she can ask kids to wait to use it without being a jerk. Allowing people to use your things doesn't mean that she forever gives up any input into its use.
Im talking about these https://www.jabra.com/noise-cancelling
She can call into her meetings on zoom or teams but it cancels outside noise.
She can still be heard and they are wireless!

Anonymous wrote:Stop teaching at the front of your house, and move to a location at the back of your house, problem solved. No hearing bouncing for your students and kids cooped up all day long get to move and get fresh air. How could you not figure this out?
