She cost my husband $10k when she canceled and I felt like we shouldn’t have had to pay her the $100 since she cost us so much money. We paid and fired her. I’m hoping we have a better experience with our next nanny.

No sympathy
Pay more
Pay legally
Respect people who work for you
Be a better employer
Anonymous wrote:You fired her because she was sick and had a family emergency? But then didn't tell her you were firing her right away (hence delaying her ability to find another job)? And you didn't want to pay her for one of the days she worked (with some sort of weird justification that it was okay because you paid her for a day you agreed she would work and then ended up deciding not to use her that day)? And her pay was $100 a day, which is outrageously low unless it was a very short day?
I hope this is made up. Otherwise you are a horrible person.

She didn't cost your husband $10K. If he lost a business deal, that's on him. You payee for days she worked and days you canceled.
