I tell my husband if he doesn't want more kids we can't have sex. Fortunately we want a big family
Why can’t he get snipped?
DP, but mine refuses to even consider it, despite the fact that neither of us want any more children.
That is some controlling, patriarchal bullish!t. Thank god I am married to a more enlightened human being.
“His body, his choice” is the enlightened view. Right?
Yeah, I’m the PP with the DH who won’t consider it, and this is exactly his reasoning. He feels he shouldn’t have to. Likewise, it is my decision to no longer have sex with him (I can’t do hormonal BC, and copper IUD had too many side effects). So, here we are.
Or, you could choose to put a condom on his penis. My parents held off having unwanted children for 7 years this way in the 1950s. Very ahead of their time. No pill yet.
Crazily enough I feel like there was more information about family planning calendar style in those times. Couples rely on pills too much. Learn your ovulation signals. Yes, it is possible that you ovulate outside of that window but the opportunity decreases. Add in some form of BC and you minimize changes greatly, but again, relying on the pill and not taking it at the same time means the whole month is out the window. Limit or eliminate sex during fertile window and use condoms at all other times.
Just sucks to have the fertile time be the only time I am really horny.![]()

I am on the mini pill and breastfeeding my 7 month old. Still no period. I have never breastfed this long with my other kids nor been on the mini pill this long.
Pp here - I take it at “bedtime”. So anywhere between 9-11pm.
Nope. Get a baby name ready. That’s fine for the regular pill but the mini pill requires no precision. You aren’t getting any benefit from it so when you ovulate you will have a baby 39 weeks later.

Pp here - I guess I should call my ob! I didn’t know that once baby starts eating solids the mini pill isn’t as effective. It took me a long time to get pregnant with number 3 (1 year and 3 miscarriages) so I guess I am also under the assumption that I can’t get pregnant easily without very timed intercourse.
Just a heads up that 4 pregnancies in a year is a conception every 3 months or so. I would NOT consider yourself unable to get pregnant easily, rather there's something else (age, some fertility issue from you or your partner, or just bad luck) that was causing your pregnancy loss (and sorry for your losses). If you wouldn't mind a surprise pregnancy, then continue on. But a surprise pregnancy seems inevitable if you continue to be imprecise with your pill.
