Cousin graduated from HBS in 2010. Works at FB as a product manager in SF and makes a base of around $250K + bonus which has varied from 100K-200K.
I have a feeling your cousin is substantially downplaying how much they make.
Could be but I can’t be sure. He was smart but I have met his classmates at HBS and a lot of them would be mediocre at best. They take 1200 students every year for MBA at HBS so a lot of them get in with good alumni connections.
When have you known a HBS MBA to downplay what they make (other than to the IRS)?

However, a lot of the info you will find is for software engineers. For example, at Google, the levels are different for engineers than for other roles. I believe they are a level ahead? Meaning a level 6 engineer will be paid more than a level 6 in sales or marketing.
Base pay will be similar for most. In fact, I think Amazon's base pay basically caps out at around 150? I could be wrong. Maybe a little more? But it's stock where you can make a lot more, and the higher your level, the more stock--also depending on how you are ranked each year.
I think some of the numbers I'm seeing here are on the high side, but I suppose it all depends when you joined the company. If you joined in your early twenties and have been accumulating stock for 10-15 years, it would be different than joining later in your career.
There is a salary difference depending on location, but it's not as much as you'd think.

It's possible the cousin stalled out in their career (or switched careers recently) and is an individual contributor with no team.
I don't know anybody at M1 level at FB who is below $1m in comp.

I have been with DH for almost 20 years. I dated this guy over 20 years ago. The ex was always my Facebook friend. He rarely posted anything. Now he is the most active person on my feed after he started working for Facebook. His wife also posts a lot and tags him. I don’t necessarily want to know about their everyday lives. I don’t dislike him. I just don’t need to know when they go hiking or when his wife posts monthly milestones of their children.
I was just curious how much these tech giants paid. I’m very familiar with finance, law and medicine. Not so much with tech.
So not unfollow his posts?
