My young husband has been battling cancer for the past couple of years, we literally just found out that its back after we were so hopeful that we'd beat it. This gut punched me and makes me feel so out of control, that there's such a real possibility that my husband won't beat it and that our kids may spend a large part of their childhoods without their dad. I'm so glad that Mr. Boseman was able to leave a legacy, doing so much for so many in his too short life. He also shows us how important it is to have empathy for people, even when you don't know their circumstances. They just might be quietly fighting for their lives.

Get your screenings on time, folks.
What a tragic loss of an immense talent.
Of course, if he was only 38 when diagnosed, the typical screening guideline (age 50) would not have saved him. Colon cancer is striking younger and younger, just awful.
If you are black, have predisposing conditions (diabetes, Crohn's, troublesome digestive system in general), and/or consume a heavily processed Western diet (aka SAD), get screened early and often.

Don’t taunt 2020!
I hope there is a protective force field around the Obamas and Oprah. I've already made peace with the fact that Alex Trebek is not long for this world.

But some people don’t, and may be battling a tough battle. It reminds me to be kind to others and not take life for granted.
