Depends on your risk tolerance which may depend on whether anyone in your household has an underlying condition.

If it's any help, we are sending our 18 month old after 4.5 months of trying to telework and take care of her (just one) and we have no regrets. I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Truly. She is happier getting the attention she needs and all of the activities they do.

It started as health concerns. Then, as time went by and we were doing okay providing childcare ourselves, it became more financial (why spend that money if this is working out?). Now this has been going on long enough that I would actually love to be able to send her if we could, but our old daycare is still not open (and increasingly looks like it will be closed forever), and I don't know if we could get her in elsewhere. I contacted a couple preschools and they said they'd let me know if a spot came available. I am feeling kind of ambivalent.

I honestly did not expect this to last this long at this level (I figured she'd be doing some form of in-person school this fall) and I think I was just slow to react and adjust. Were our old daycare opening, I do think we'd be seriously considering sending her, even though we didn't expect to be paying for daycare this year because we originally thought she'd be going to preschool at our local public. But we don't have that choice.

My spouse has asthma and got severely ill from the flu a couple years back.

I realize I could lose my spot and that does stress me out a lot.
