NP here. You’re a true fool, PP.

I agree. There is a group in Loudoun who are all about opening up the schools 100%. They are nuts and include someone who thought the teachers could be arrested for not showing up to teach. There are parents who actually believe the school employees are their slaves.

You are now allowing them to go on sleepovers and worse.
Some of you are sending them on summer trips/camp.
Then you will send them to school with my kids.
You'll get what you deserve -- but so will your kids, and so will mine, and so will I.
Thanks.

Did you run out of your Xanax or something?
I am not allowing my kids to go to sleepovers and not sending them to any kind of camp but I do believe that schools should be fully open since this country can't afford to raise another generation of adults that would be even less educated than the current one. Will we also get 'what we deserve'?

The hyperbole is unbearable. Your kids are clearly in public school and you are seriously think they're going to be that far behind? Ha. So funny. Let me tell you, if your kids are in es, you can easily do a better job yourself. My kids are in public school but we definitely add in our own work particularly in the summer.

I managed just fine with the kids m-f staying home and they can’t cope for 2 days on the weekends at home and alone with kids so they need play dates and beaches and parks and bbqs. It’s selfish and pathetic. I’m looking for a new job!!

You shouldn’t have a hard time finding one. Everyone with two parents working wants a nanny these days.

The Americans who are protesting against lockdown don't represent all Americans. But those who are protesting should consider the examples set by people in other countries who practiced social distancing and are now seeing good outcomes.

but of course, they never do. Cos merrica.

Graduation parties. Summer pool parties. Beach trips.

We are going to all 3 this summer!!+!+
Woo hoo!!

Then you are selfish, period. This is not rocket science. Our educational system failed.

Graduation part is outdoors. No problem.

Pool party is outdoors. No problem.

Beach trip is outdoors. No problem.

See the common denominator here? Outdoors, NO PROBLEM.

Closer than 6 feet?

Problem

Pool parties and beach trips are likely much safer than hanging out with a bunch of people all night in a still room, breathing the same air.

Umm they're proving decidedly not. Something about standing in a tepid pool of water, inhaling the spray, and laying immobile for hours next to way too many people spreads virus...who knew. Not to mention all the tactile contact between strangers and friends.

You don’t think sharing a house and attending crowded gatherings were the problem but the beach?

My family (two parents, two small children) went to a beach house that we rented by ourselves, never got within 6 ft of strangers in any context , didn’t go out anywhere, and then drove home. I’m not rushing for my covid test even though the beach was in a hotspot location.

Exactly. People who point fingers need to read up a little more on the relative risk of various activities and also think about what beach week really is. It's piling into a rental house with a bunch of friends and party-hopping from one house to another. I'm guessing some of these posters were not the beach week types and therefore don't know what it looks like. I remember drinking too much, wandering to random parties at so-and-so's friend's rental house, kissing guys I hardly knew. It wasn't exactly responsible behavior then, and it certainly isn't now. But the beach itself is the least risky part of the equation. Of course if large groups of teens are gathering with other large groups of teens on the beach, that increases the risk for those groups. But it is really dumb to shame a family for going to the beach and staying away from others. Not at all the same thing.
