These kids aren't "mediocre white kids," as you claim. They're strong students, a mix of Asian, white and biracial. They excel at ELA, math and Mandarin but they're leaving. We're told that they're leaving for BASIS, Washington Latin and MoCo. I admit that we weren't prepared for the exodus. If DCI's future is as bright as one PP after another claims, why are they leaving? You tell me.

Just stop. “strong students, a mix of Asian, white, and biracial”? Check yourself. There are strong AA students in the fifth grade at YY too. In fact there are strong AA students in all grades at YY. And yes some leave and some stay. Quite a few move on to private schools after fifth grade. I know it’s shocking but yes they apply and are accepted. YY has prepared them well enough.

At Risk students are defined as non-adult students who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, are homeless or in the foster system, or are more than a year or more behind in high school.
