+1 on the bullying. Luckily our child was not a target but it was witnessed and reported with nothing happening to the offenders.

+1 The school does not want to admit it or try to change the culture. There is a huge divide with wealthy families valued. Their girls are allowed to do whatever they want.
It is a shame and wish it would be addressed. What an example for the students.

We never got the survey and were there a long time . So no idea what that pp is saying. But our daughter has been bullied by the girls at stone ridge. And the parents are all about how sweet and perfect their kids are. It was really rough. It still feels raw at time to see it happen to your kid. We wanted a good experience. We talked to the school. Still haunted by what some of those girls did. I chalked it up to we live in are of wealth and privilege and probably every school has pockets of mean girls.

It sounds like one poster here has an axe to grind with SR. I'm not discounting if you had a negative experience, however to say families got a survey asking who they voted for is patently false. We did not receive any such survey. My girls start in US and have had an incredible experience. The families we know are warm, friendly and kind. No school is perfect, but SR comes close in my book.

If you care about social justice the school that welcomes so many from the current administration is not for you. They can post all they want on social media but the fact remains their are many families there I would not want my child exposed to.

I've had kids at SR and at other private/parochial schools. The reputation varies depending on the population you're in. Among Catholic families, it is an excellent all girls school academically and athletically. Some non-Catholics can't imagine why anyone would choose it over the other girls private schools. Its population is probably a bit more religiously and ethnically diverse than some of the other girls Catholic schools, while still definitely having a Catholic character including masses and view towards service. I get the impression that it is less of a pressure cooker than some of the other privates (Holton, NCS) but still has stellar academics, particularly in upper school. For lower and middle schools, the pros and cons are more pronounced depending on what you're comparing it to. For lower school, small class size, a very good curriculum, and some stellar teachers are standouts. The lower school head is good with faculty, good with curriculum, less good with parents. The middle school has a good curriculum with small class sizes. Not as much tiering classes (honors/advanced) than at some other schools. Pros and cons of all of that.

Many families don’t buy into the social stuff because they don’t feel welcome. There are insider and outsider families at Stone Ridge. Many of the Catholics go to Church together. They share family ties. Read the Vanity Fair article about Georgetown Prep and the Kavanaugh fiasco. Stone Ridge comes up, that’s SR’s “brother school.” By the way, after Kavanaugh we (at least) received a survey from SR that we could fill out anonymously, but it’s always better to use our own voices (identify yourself). It was a detailed voting history. An in-depth political profile sent to me and my husband individually. First question: What Presidential candidate did you vote for in the 2016 election?
No you didn't, unless you're the one parent that got that! Are you kidding? I know for a fact we didn't get it and neither did any of my friends. Stop being ridiculous!

We have had kids at different private schools. Schools, like companies, organizations, have a culture - and for private schools, there are different elements of the culture: students, administration, teachers, parents, coaches. If you have friends you can trust, try to learn about the culture of the school - so you have less surprises. No school is ever a 100 percent perfect for every single family. Some aspects of a school, you may not like. Its always easier to navigate if you know what you are dealing with. Its often when you have a challenge that you will really feel the culture of the school - either positive or negative.
We do have a kid at SR. I understand the elements of the reputation that are on the threads as witnessed this happen to close friends.. Its a good, but not a perfect school, but is strong on so many areas. I continue to see signs that they are addressing different elements - including recently a independent survey on the school including culture. Being a K-12, its reputation (and enrollment) varies by division greatly with increasing / record enrollment as you get closer to the Upper school. The Upper School is the strongest division by far. It can be a fantastic experience for your daughter and wish you the best.

But I do know that the SR applications are through the roof.
