Suck it up.

I don't really understand why it's hard for them to control this, because my company does webinars all the time and we are able to give specific credentials to people.
I had kids sign in as themselves and make their avatar dick pics. I kicked them out. They came back. This was a multi-level problem. Some teachers had no issue, others had way more than I did. What baffles me, though it shouldn’t, is parent response. We should all be condemning how students acted not FCPS. This isn’t the same as logging in a bunch of professionals who would be scared to lose their job. These kids aren’t scared because nothing will happen. We will just have to retool, and they know it.
And before you start, I emailed the parent. The response “What do you expect?”

MS teacher here. MS students were not in class yesterday. The problem was HS.
The MS schools students were in for secondary schools, right? Specials? Read the other posts and threads....MS teachers posting about them.

I am willing to cut the schools some slack, this is new territory for them. They'll get there.

Lotta good that'll do. They'll record disgusting and derogatory comments and porn uploads. Great. How about tracking the demented souls down and dealing with them appropriately.
Those kids have been home with their parents a whole month. You'd think they'd be overflowing with family values right now. Like, what the hell?! They're at home acting like complete cretins. I only wish you could see some of the comments and names I saw.

My kids have had several “practice” blackboard collaborate sessions. How come these “security issues” didn’t become obvious then?
It’s not FCPS. It’s the parents who have not raised their children to act appropriately. I’m glad your kid who had an online class in his AP course a few times had appropriate classmates. Now we’ve got the whole school taking all classes online. It’s not the teachers fault these kids can’t behave appropriately. And before you start in on how it is their responsibility to manage classroom behaviors- there is a huge difference between dealing with talking in class or not doing class work and being spammed with the most vile porn and racist/sexist language. You don’t even know who is sending it so you can’t do anything. Not FCPS at all. It is a whole community problem that stems from bad parenting.
How is this possible - you’re signed in with your name.
