Subject: Vacation Spot/Activity that was even BETTER than you imagined.
Tokyo - was excited to go and thought I’d have a good time, but it was amazing and the people are so nice. We were planning our next trip to Japan before that one was over, even though we thought we were one and done visiting Japan.
Universal Orlando - first trip was a mother/son vacation the summer before middle school and it was so much fun! I’m not usually into theme parks, but we both love Harry Potter so we went. We dragged our husband/father there the following year and he enjoyed it, too.
London - never disappoints and is in my soul as the only place that has ever felt like home to me (since my first visit at age 14 and including where I grew up).

Nicaragua, it was a beautiful country with so much to see and do, we were lucky to have gone right before all the political turmoil began.

Guatemala. I was looking forward to the trip and had high expectations -- and loved it more than I thought I would. Went to Tikal, then the highlands (Chichicastenango, Xela, Lake Atitlan), and then Antigua. Great hiking, amazing ruins, lovely people.

Patagonia, Chile. Specifically Torres del Paine but really all of it.
The most beautiful place i've ever been. Spectacular. We've been a lot of places but this was then most magical. We went backpacking for a week with our 3 middle school aged kids.

Edinburgh, Scotland
I'd been to London and Glasgow before, both of which I enjoyed, but I assumed Edinburgh would be similar to them (as in, a rather typical UK city). I was completely blown away by the city. So charming and beautiful, and so much history. It's incredibly easy to get around by foot. Everyone is so friendly. The natural beauty that surrounds the city in such close proximity - the mountains in distance, Arthur's Seat, the sea - was the cherry on top. Everything felt so easy and simple - sometimes, on city vacations, it's easy to a bit rushed or constantly on the go. I did not feel like this in Edinburgh.
