Exxum sounds like a purulent discharge symptomatic of some disease. As in, "You'll need to keep applying the Lotrimin 3 times a day until you haven't seen any exxum on the bandages for 72 hours. And don't leave the house."

Adlai is an Old Testament name. Most famous person is Adlai Stevenson, governor of Illinois and candidate for president several times in the '50s and '60s.
