I live close to Fairfax but would rather deliver my own baby in my driveway than go there.

Reviving this thread. I delivered at GW four years ago. Twin pregnancy, I felt in very good hands and trusted all the doctors. Agree post partum experience was not cushy at all but at the time, what I cared about most was that me and babies were being taken care of medically and I had the utmost trust in that.

Fast forward to today and I now live in Bethesda so GW is no longer the most convenient. But I’m a little wary of changing practices, just because I know it “worked” the first time. My pregnancy wasn’t particularly high risk despite the twins, but towards the end right before I had my c section I developed pre eclampsia. I’m thinking of trying for #3 now and wondering if I should consider changing where I deliver (and if I do, that means I have to change the OB I see…)

I did GW and Sibley, I highly recommend GW based on their level 3 NICU. We had a doula through Balanced Bellies and she was amazing at helping us navigate the hospitals and routines and such/.,

My nurses there helped me immensely before the LC was able to come...

I delivered at INOVA Fairfax this summer, and my one word of warning is if you need help breastfeeding ask immediately and keep asking. I didn’t see a lactation consultant until my baby was more than a day old, despite asking.

If you are in Virginia, and you or the baby actually have massive complications, Inova Fairfax is best and where you’re likely going to end up.

GW is where recent DC transplants have their babies because it’s metro accessible.

Odd quote. Born and raised DC resident here who chose GW due to the Midwives practice. I was fine with both my pregnancies and deliveries (I only go to GW for my delivery and all my appointments in Bethesda MFA location). Also low risk with no complications so can’t speak to NICU or other experiences. Mostly in and out for me.

can you recommend a dr at the Bethesda office?

How so, can you explain?

Bump. Please expand more on Holy Cross as it was one my kaiser options. Any Holy Cross births?

I loved Holy Cross when I delivered there two years ago. Big rooms. Supportive nurses - they knew I didn’t want to give into an epidural easily and were telling me I was doing great, didn’t need it, etc (but got me one when I was like, no it’s time!). The epidural came in like 15 minutes. Food was decent. Mostly, j love my OB practice and that’s where they are.

Going back this summer for #2.

I also had a very positive experience at Holy cross, nursing staff was top notch and I had great lactation support too.

Chose Inova Fairfax even though I live close to Sibley. Loved it. Nationally ranked, brand new, and level 4 NICU god forbid you need that.
