I’d have made him spend the whole day in Hobby Lobby listening to that awful music they play.
I mean, it really is punishment for a 10 year old boy (or girl) not interested in crafting.
indeed.. and that's why some people's response of "you should just leave the store as punishment" is not punishment. It's basically rewarding bad behavior.
But putting the kid on a dirty women's bathroom floor is also inappropriate.

You are an awful person. Her kid has ADHD and instead of using the special needs trump card-as in: oh my rich, white kid can't help himself so it isn't his fault he is touching everything and knocking over things- she actually disciplined her kid. He then behaved in the store. No wonder there are so many bratty, entitled kids running amok in stores.
You sound trashy and low class too.

Hmm I never even thought of this. Like hell my 10 year old son would come in the ladies bathroom with me!!
It's all just so wrong especially given his difficulties. Like the shaming in the dirty bathroom aspect really was a strong part of the discipline.
Yes .. the point of the discipline was humiliation. It being published all over the internet was just bonus.
Yes, this is what rubs me the wrong way about it. Discipline shouldn't be about humiliation.
I don't think it was about humiliation per se. If she wanted to really humiliate him, she would've made him do it in the aisle. She took him some place where there was some privacy, and obviously that can't be the men's room. And she probably didn't want to leave the store just yet because she still had things to get done. So, the next best place was the women's bathroom.
I don't know if she knew a woman was recording it, but as far as talking about it on social media, she probably 1. wanted a bit of fame 2. felt she was attacked and wanted to defend herself.
She did it in the women's bathroom. That's really inappropriate. Barring a medical emergency, a 10-year-old boy should not be in the women's bathroom. And I would never tell my kid to get on the floor of a public restroom. Gross.

WTH is wrong with people? This is why we have such poorly behaved kids and adults: bad parenting.
