I don't have a problem with the push-ups. The nature of this board is that everyone picks apart every little thing they can, ignoring the faults and shortcomings of their own kids and their own childrearing.

I would have given a spanking, in the car if the child is young, or at home if a little older. I'm sure we could have six pages flaming that choice, too.

I’d have made him spend the whole day in Hobby Lobby listening to that awful music they play.

I mean, it really is punishment for a 10 year old boy (or girl) not interested in crafting.

indeed.. and that's why some people's response of "you should just leave the store as punishment" is not punishment. It's basically rewarding bad behavior.

But putting the kid on a dirty women's bathroom floor is also inappropriate.

Would making him do that in the aisle of the store be more appropriate?

Some people even find time outs and making a 3 yr old stand in the corner inappropriate.

Going home is not the for consequence of bad behavior. Sheesh people. You take the kid somewhere private, explain what they did wrong, and then they get the consequence. Of course leaving the store isn’t punishment.

You are an awful person. Her kid has ADHD and instead of using the special needs trump card-as in: oh my rich, white kid can't help himself so it isn't his fault he is touching everything and knocking over things- she actually disciplined her kid. He then behaved in the store. No wonder there are so many bratty, entitled kids running amok in stores.

You sound trashy and low class too.

And ignorant. You can't punish the adhd out of anyone.

Gross imo. I have a child with the same diagnosis and I would never do something like this.

While I would never make my kids do push-ups in the bathroom, I don't judge how parents choose to punish their kids. I am not that child's parent and I don't know the circumstance or history. I think it's much worse when kids misbehave and parents just turn a blind eye and pretend their kids are angels, consequently making everyone else around them suffer.

Hmm I never even thought of this. Like hell my 10 year old son would come in the ladies bathroom with me!!

It's all just so wrong especially given his difficulties. Like the shaming in the dirty bathroom aspect really was a strong part of the discipline.

Yes .. the point of the discipline was humiliation. It being published all over the internet was just bonus.

Yes, this is what rubs me the wrong way about it. Discipline shouldn't be about humiliation.

I don't think it was about humiliation per se. If she wanted to really humiliate him, she would've made him do it in the aisle. She took him some place where there was some privacy, and obviously that can't be the men's room. And she probably didn't want to leave the store just yet because she still had things to get done. So, the next best place was the women's bathroom.

I don't know if she knew a woman was recording it, but as far as talking about it on social media, she probably 1. wanted a bit of fame 2. felt she was attacked and wanted to defend herself.

She did it in the women's bathroom. That's really inappropriate. Barring a medical emergency, a 10-year-old boy should not be in the women's bathroom. And I would never tell my kid to get on the floor of a public restroom. Gross.

Again, it's better than the very public aisle in the store. It's appropriate for her to punish her child when the incident occurs rather than letting him think it's ok to misbehave especially in a store. That's fine that *you* would never tell your kid to do pushups in the bathroom, but *you* are not that child's mother. Who knows.. maybe your kids are the ones who misbehave in the store and think nothing of it while others around you think you are terrible parent for not punishing your child's bad behavior.

WTH is wrong with people? This is why we have such poorly behaved kids and adults: bad parenting.

Do you have a kid with behavioral issues? Sometimes it's just not enough to pack things up and go home.

She is the awful person for subjecting her child to this sort of humiliation.
